Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a system of medicine that stimulates the immune system, so that healing can take place. (The remedies provide the correct conditions so that the body can heal itself).

Homeopathy is a system of alternative medicine. It was conceived in 1796 by the German physician Samuel Hahnemann. Its practitioners, called homeopaths, believe that a substance that causes symptoms of a disease in healthy people can cure similar symptoms in sick people.

Homeopathy is usually offered by a private practitioner, and the homeopathic remedies are available from pharmacies.

Just some of the common conditions you may seek homeopathic treatment for are:

  • asthma
  • ear infections
  • hay fever
  • mental health conditions, such as depression, stress and anxiety
  • allergies, such as food allergies
  • dermatitis (an allergic skin condition)
  • arthritis
  • high blood pressure
